Incoming activity to LEO: Dr. Viktor Karádi from Eotvos Lorand University Budapest (Hungary)

Dr. Viktor Karádi gave an in-class lecture about age-diagnostic and paleoenvironment-diagnostic fossils, with special emphasis on grous detectable directly in the field. The theoretical background of field sampling and laboratory techniques used for extracting microfossils was also discussed. During a short field excursion in the Northern Calcareous Alps he visited Mesozoic outcrops with students. He explained useful practices of conodont determination and taxonomy for a MSc and a PhD student. He had the opportunity to try taking photographs of conodonts with a digital microscope.
