I had one month of the student exchange at the Paris Lodron University in Salzburg, Department of Environment and Biodiversity. Firstly, I was very well welcomed and introduced to a project. During my time at the University, I had laboratory work as a main activity. The main goal was to prepare samples for particle size measurements, which included crashing samples, sieving at the different sizes of sieves (mass fraction sieving), than coning and quartering and in the end measuring with the particle sizer (particle size analyzer). Mass fraction sieving was used for the particles with bigger size, and the particle size analyzer was used for particles with smaller size. I had an opportunity to work with great people, to learn new methods in the sphere of laboratory work and go through different laboratory processes that I haven’t had a chance to go through up to date. In overall, it was very positive experience as I got to learn something new in the lab, as well within the project.
