Incoming activity to TUZ: Prof. Dr. Vladimir Simić from University of Belgrade – Faculty of Mining and Geology (Serbia)

In October 2023 our new participating unit – University of Tuzla – Faculty of Mining, Geology and Civil Engineering, had its first incoming mobility. Namely, Prof. Vladimir Simić from UB – Faculty of Mining and Geology, gave a course entitled “Mineral deposits of Serbia”. First lectures were dedicated to the metallogeny of western Balkan as precondition for discoveries and exploration of future mineral deposits and continued with metallic mineral deposits of Serbia. Second part was about coal as an important mineral commodity in Serbia: from historical and actual deposits and production of coal, to some of the clean (green) energy sources. Next topics were about industrial minerals and rocks, followed by summary of mineral commodities for zero carbon future. Critical raw materials from the EU list were also discussed. Finally, students were introduced with the PERC standard for reporting resources and reserves, illustrated by several examples from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
