Education and science are two inseparable parts in the development of any research discipline. A good example of this fact is illustrated by the official call received from Prof. Dejan Prelević, principal investigator of the research project “Recon Tethys – Reconstruction of the Tethys’ waning in the Balkans” (financed by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia). Prof. Prelević writes: “I would like to invite you and all members of your network (CIII-RS-0038: EURO Geo-Sci) to follow our project progress and to include our basic and advanced courses into the network plans. Also, all students and teachers who visit the Faculty of Mining and Geology, University of Belgrade, are welcomed to our field and laboratory work and seminars as well. From our part, we would also be interested in being involved in CEEPUS activities during the next period 2023-24. To start with, we would kindly ask you to plan one member of our team to use an outgoing mobility to the University of Zagreb”.
Having in mind that the main subject of Recon Tethys is the investigation of poorly known Upper Cretaceous magmatism and geodynamics along the Sava zone (central axis of the Balkan Peninsula), it is obvious that EURO Geo-Sci is highly interested to be part of this project. We thank the Recon Tethys team for inviting us to join aboard this important quest for new geological discoveries.
