I had the pleasure to teach a graduate course titled ‘Geochronology – A primer to the absolute dating of geological processes and geomaterials’ at the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Jagiellonian University in Krak\u00f3w in April this year.<\/p>\n

The course aimed at providing to the students a basic introduction of the methodological and practical ways of determining temporal data to tackle and answer questions arising from geology s.l., regional geology, tectonics, geophysics, petrology, geochemistry, mineralogy, geomorphology, Earth history, paleontology, stratigraphy, and palaeoclimatology.<\/p>\n

I met a group of strongly interested student participants who very actively tackling the theoretical and more applied basics of geochronology, a topic alrgely new to them.<\/p>\n

I experienced very positive feedback both, and more importantly, from the participating students, as well as from the academic and administrative staff at the institute. The only mentionable shortcoming might be that time was too short for a more extensive presentation and discussion. In my opinion practical work definitely came a bit too short.<\/p>\n

But, all in all the week of teaching in Krak\u00f3w was certainly worth the effort, actually was great fun, and I hope to be able to repeat this sometime.<\/p>\n
